What We Believe

Prayer - God’s house is to be a house of prayer.  For this reason, the people at The Lighthouse Church are encouraged to be in an attitude of prayer before every service to prepare their hearts before the Lord.  God’s people are to be a people of prayer.  Daily devotions are essential to the existence of every believer and every family.  (Isa. 56: 7; Rom. 12: 12; Phil. 4: 6; Col. 4: 2)

Worship - “God is Spirit and they that worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth.”  Therefore, worshiping God is central at The Lighthouse Church.  Worship that really pleases God is wholehearted and is a celebration of the life we have in our risen Lord. (John 4: 24; Ps. 86: 12; Ps. 100: 4; Ps. 103: 1-2)

Giving - Giving is a divine principle as well as an essential part of God’s nature.  When we participate in giving, we display an attitude of love, obedience, and trust in Him.  At The Lighthouse Church, we bring our tithes and offerings to the Lord and present them before Him as an act of worship.  (Lev. 27: 30-33; Deut. 12: 4; Mal. 3: 6-10; Luke 6: 30; 2 Cor. 9: 6)

Biblically Structured Families - The success of the family is a vital key to the success of the church.  Therefore, the family must have Godly principles upon which it is built.  God has delegated the responsibility of loving leadership to the man of the house.  He has given the man a helpmeet, who, while being in submission to him, will help him fulfill the God-given calling upon his family.  The children are to be in subjection to the parents and give them honor.  The family is to be, in essence, a miniature church, thus reflecting the values of the local church to which they belong.  (Gen. 2: 18; Gen. 2: 24; 1 Cor. 11: 3; 1 Pet. 3: 7; Eph. 5: 22-29; Gen. 1: 27-28; Eph. 6: 1-4)

Reconciliation - The body of Christ is to be one with Christ and with each other.  There is no room in the body of Christ for prejudices of any kind.  The church is a place where anyone can come from any ethnic, cultural or social background and receive the love that is poured from vessel to vessel without any partiality.  The body, being many members, from many backgrounds, must move together in unity that comes only from the finished work of Jesus Christ.  Jesus said, “that they may be one as we are one.”  (John 17: 22-23; Ps. 133: 1-3; 1 Cor. 12: 14-27; James 2: 1-9; 1 John 4: 7-8; 1 John 4: 13-21)

Order - The corporate meeting is a place of spiritual life and order.  God has placed the responsibility for order upon the leadership.  We encourage everyone to join with leadership as they lead in the corporate expression of worship and honor the guidelines of the leadership in the flow of service.  (1 Cor. 14: 32-33, 40)

Centrality of the Word of God - The message has a real place of prominence at The Lighthouse Church because we believe it to be powerful and able to change people’s lives.  To us the Word of Gold is a lamp unto our feet and a light unto our paths.  (Ps. 33: 4; Ps. 92: 13-14; Ps. 119: 11, 89, 105; Ps. 138: 12; John 15: 7; 2 Tim. 3: 16-17; Heb. 4: 12)

A Strong Committed Membership - People whom God has planted at The Lighthouse Church are family, committed to strengthening and building up one another in faith and helping each other realize their full potential in God.  (Ps. 68: 6; Ps. 92: 13-14; Prov. 27: 8; 2 Cor. 12: 18; Eph. 4: 16)

Church Government - The government structure at The Lighthouse Church is theocratic.  It begins with the senior pastor who has a team of working elders working with him/her.  (Num. 11: 14-17; Acts 20 : 17, 38; 1 Tim. 5: 17-31; Heb. 13: 17; 1 Pet. 5: 1-3)
